Good project design happens when we bring together technical expertise
with a strong understanding of the local context.
This is why applied research is at the core of what we do.
But we don’t stop there. We also provide strategic consulting and training
services to help you improve the impact of your work at the local level.
Localisation should be a guided process. We developed the Bridging Peoples FrameworkTM to help organisations analyse and shift decision-making power in a manner that is effective and safe.
The three pillars of program effectiveness, local legitimacy and downwards accountability guides all of our work, whether providing program support, conducting research for improved local impact, or delivering workshops on localisation and community engagement.
The initiative must be well-designed to ensure it meets its intended objectives, following technical & international best practice. Most organisations tend to focus almost exclusively on this pillar.
IS IT LOCALLY
Local stakeholders must consider the people and processes as legitimate. Ask: are the people leading the work seen as legitimate? Are the processes seen as legitimate? Careful consideration of local and cultural norms is important for this pillar.
IS THERE LOCAL ACCOUNTABILITY?
Those implementing the initiative must be accountable back to their community. Different sectors of the community must be aware of the initiative, and able to hold decision-makers to account. Careful consideration of outreach and engagement mechanisms is important for this pillar.
We provide research, third-party monitoring & evaluation and strategic consulting services, to help you improve your work and impact at the local level. We work primarily through our network of trusted consultants from around the world, bringing together in-country and international experts to help you solve difficult problems, better understand the communities where you work, and design and deliver programs that reflect international best practice while also taking a community-centred approach.
Schedule a meeting to discuss your upcoming research or consulting project.
Sometimes all you need is a consultant to help in small research tasks, such as data collection, translation or report writing & analysis. We can help to connect you with our Network of researchers & consultants from around the world.
Contracting with someone from our Network gives you the best of both worlds: easy recruitment for your small research job, combined with support from Bridging Peoples.
